Programs.📈 Department of Economics
“Economics for Sustainable Development and Social Progress”
📖 About the Department
The Department of Economics was established in June 1974 along with the establishment of Bangurnagar Arts, Science & Commerce College, Dandeli. Since its inception, the department has played a significant role in promoting economic literacy, analytical thinking, and research aptitude among students.
Initially, economics was offered as a major subject in the Bachelor of Arts program. With the introduction of the revised curriculum in 1990–91, it became one of the three equally optional subjects in the B.A. program. The semester system was introduced from the academic year 2005–06, making the curriculum more dynamic and student-oriented.
The department also contributes to the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) program by teaching economics as a compulsory subject. Through innovative teaching methods, seminars, workshops, field studies, and research-oriented activities, the department equips students with the knowledge and skills required for higher education, competitive examinations, and professional careers.
