Physics is regarded as one of the most fundamental of the sciences. Physics is one of the combination subjects in B.Sc. since 1974 the year of the establishment of the college. The services of the department are also extended to the self-financing B.Sc. (Pulp & Paper) course.

The Physics department is committed to impart quality education for socio – economic growth.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARMENT:

• To create interest among the students in the study of Physics by using the best possible methods & stimulating scientific temper/attitude by arranging science exhibitions, discussions, talks, seminars, assignments etc.
• To make the students effectively disseminate the Physics knowledge to coming generations.

TEACHING & LEARNING: Students are guided & helped by providing basic education in Computers, free of cost, such as accessing the Internet, searching of web pages of subject interest etc. The fast learners are motivated by arranging Science Exhibition in the college and also by encouraging them to participate in competitions conducted at other colleges. Our students are also encouraged to attend the ‘Global Skills’ classes.

Every year latest publications / editions of books on various topics such as Modern Physics, Electricity, Solid State Physics and Nuclear Physics are added to our college central Library on the recommendation of the faculty.

PARTICIPATION IN SEMINARS/CONFERENCE/WORKSHOP/EXTENSION SERVICES:

INFRASTRUCTURE AND EQUIPMENTS: To provide the finest possible training to the students in the subjects with the help of available facilities, instruments such as Sensitive Cathode ray Oscilloscope , digital multimeters, digital function generators, digital power supply, GM counter etc worth Rs.3,50,000 are purchased to the department procuring UGC and special grant. Every year our Management also allots sufficient budget to purchase instruments as well as latest books to the library.

FUTURE VISION:The department of Physics envisages itself to be a center of excellence in basic and applied aspects of Physics in teaching by functioning effectively as individual as well as in a team.
