Department of Economics

The Department of Economics was started in June 1974, with the inception of the college as Major subject.The scheme of one Major and two Minor subjects in B.A. course was replaced by three equal Optional Subjects in 1990-91. Semester system for UG course has been introduced from 2005-06 academic year on the same subject pattern. Bachelor of Commerce Course was introduced in the college from the academic year 1977-78, where economics as one of the compulsory subjects is included.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT

• To provide useful information to the students about national & international economic developments.
• To provide sound basis for preparing the students for pursuing higher education in economics
