Bangurnagar Arts,Science and Commerce College came into existence in the year 1973-74. Commerce, as a separate discipline was added in the year 1977-78 with15 students. Since then it has developed over the years in terms of students’ strength, academic and sports achievements. Presently, the department has 175 students and 3 dedicated staff members who are highly qualified in their respective fields.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT:
1. To develop conceptual, technical and human relations skills among the students through formal and informal education.
2. To build specific competency to meet the focused demand of the competitive world.
3. To mould the personality to face future and to meet the needs of professional, social and personal life.
4. To offer vocational guidance and assist the students to make them employable.

DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES:

* Commerce Lab:
The Commerce lab was inaugurated on 11-09-2018 by Dr. A D Bhat, Co-ordinator, PG Studies in Commerce with the objective of enriching the students with academic as well as practical knowledge. The IQAC department, Principal and management have taken the initiative to introduce the Commerce Lab. The lab was planned and designed by B.Com students.

* VITTA SAMARA:
B.Com students had participated in VITTA SAMARA (Quiz competition) at DespandeKautaliyacollege, Hubli on 20-1-2018

* ARENA 2018:
The department of Commerce had organised Commerce Fest. The Co-ordinator was Ms.PriyankaBannerjee. 150 students of our college had participated in this fest.

* Use of ICT based activities: SWAYAM, NPTEL, MITOPERCOURSEWARE, CNX.ORG, OLI.CMU.EDU, VLAB.CO.IN, SPOKEN TUTORIAL, OSCAR.IITB.AC.IN, OERCOMMONS.ORG, NOTTINGHAM.AC.UK, SEARCH.CREATIVECOMMONS.ORG, INFLIBNET, LIBG.WIDIES.TECH.EDU,
* The commerce faculties organise skill development activities to students based on their respective subjects.
* In order to update the students practically, manual accounting, communication games, role play activities are organised.
* Scope is given to students to present seminars through power point presentation, case studies and group discussions.
