• Department was started in the year 1974 along with the establishment of College
• First in charge of the department was Prof.G.B.Nayak who was appointed as Physical Culture Director in July-1975
• Presently Sri.Vinay S is working as Assistant Director of Physical Education

SPORTS COMMITTEE

STRUCTURE

RULES, REGULATIONS AND GUIDE LINES FOR SPORTS COMMITTEE

• NAME AND ADDRESS: The committee will be called as “The sports committee of B.N.Degree College, Dandeli” and its official address will be Bangurnagar Arts, Science and Commerce College, Dandeli, Pincode-581325.
• JURISDICTION/AREA OF OPERATION: The jurisdiction of the Committee shall be over the Sports Activities of the students community in the college.

OBJECTIVES/GOALS:

• To plan and conduct various sports activities throughout the academic year in the year.
• To promote the spirit of sportsmanship and patriotism among the students of the college.
• To select and sponsor students to represent the college at various sports meet and tournaments of the university such as zonal/inter-zonal and inter university.

COMPOSITION : It is as shown in the previously.

POWERS & FUNCTIONS:

• To plan the annual calendar of events in sports along with the budget needed.
• To organize inter faculty sports competition and selection trials for selecting students to constitute various sports teams of the college.
• To organize continuous and daily sports activities in the college and to oversee the sports activities conducted on the college grounds and indoor games hall.
• To maintain proper playground and play field facilities in the college.
• To arrange for purchase and maintenance of sports equipments.
• To host University level inter collegiate sports tournaments.

MEETINGS OF THE COMMITTEE: The committee shall meet as and when required under Chairmanship of the Principal. No quorum is needed for the meeting.

FINANCE/FUNDS: Funds for the sports committee activities and operation shall be drawn from the budgeted head of college funds and the management contribution. Some of the funds from UGC grants under different plans will also be used.

COMMAND & CONTROL: The Director of Physical Education/Staff sports cooridinator will have full control over the students sports activities and the overall command shall rest with the Principal/Chairman of the committee.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE

• Space for playing Football, Cricket and laying of track of 200m
• Sports room for playing Table Tennis, Carrom and Chess
• Gymkhana hall where 8 station gym and other apparatus are kept
• Almost all the apparatus for athletics, cricket and all other major outdoor and indoor games is present.
• Space for Volleyball, Throwball and Tennikoit courts is present.
• Facility and space for Kho-Kho and Kabaddi is also present.

ORGANIZATION OF ACTIVITIES

• Planning of the activities is done in the first sports committee meeting.
• Inaugural function for commencement of the sports and cultural activities is done after the student representative nomination is over.
• Activities start with the selection trials for constituting teams for various games.
• Practice is started after the selection of the teams for participating in various tournaments.
• Talented students are sent for University Selection in various disciplines.
• Teams are sent to participate in various tournaments.
• The Annual Sports is organized in Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Throw Ball and Shuttle Badminton for both girls and boys.
• The Annual Athletic meet is organized in the month of January/February.
• Prizes for all the winners in the Annual Sports and Athletic meet will be distributed in the Prize Distribution Ceremony

Organization of Tournaments

• Karnatak University Zonal Table Tennis (Men & Women) tournament was organized in the year 2014-15 in which our college Women team won the Championship
• Karnatak University Inter Zone Table Tennis (Men & Women) tournament was organized in the year 2014-15 in which our college Women team won second place
• Karnatak University Zonal Table Tennis (Men & Women) tournament was organized in the year 2016-17 in which our college Men & Women team won the Championship
• Karnatak University Inter Zone Table Tennis (Men & Women) tournament was organized in the year 2016-17 in which our college Women team won second place
• Karnatak University Single Zone Chess (Men & Women) tournament was organized in the year 2019
